A memory from Leah Engebretson

Kindness Was His Superpower

When you work with people remotely, there are always a few you hope you’ll get the chance to meet in person someday. For me, Vincent was one of those people.

Though I was in Minnesota and he was in Salt Lake City, I never felt like I was talking to someone hundreds of miles away. As part of the support team for his sales team at Comcast Advertising, I had the privilege of working with Vincent, and he was truly one of the kindest, most appreciative people I’ve ever partnered with.

Every time Vincent joined a call, his face would light up with a smile that immediately made everyone feel welcome. He never rushed through a conversation. He genuinely wanted to know how you were doing, what was happening in your life, and he always made time to connect on a personal level. In a world where we’re all moving a mile a minute, Vincent made people feel seen.

But what stood out most was what happened when you asked about his wife and kids. His smile somehow got even bigger. His eyes lit up in a way that made it instantly clear that they were his entire world. The love he had for his family radiated through every conversation.

To his family – I hope you know just how often he spoke about you, how proud he was of you, and how deeply you were loved. And if you carry forward even a fraction of the kindness, warmth, patience, and grace that Vincent showed to everyone around him, you will make him more than proud. You will honor the incredible legacy he leaves behind.

I never got the chance to meet Vincent in person, but I will always be grateful that I got to know him. The world is better because he was in it, and everyone who had the privilege of crossing paths with him is better because of it. More than that, Vincent reminded me that people like him still exist. In a world that can often feel rushed, cynical, or disconnected, he gave me hope. His kindness was genuine, his warmth was effortless, and he made everyone around him feel valued. He inspired me to be a better person, to lead with more grace, and to show up for others the way he did. That is a gift I’ll carry with me long after our last conversation.
