I’ll always remember the first time I met Vincent—a beautiful summer evening in New York City at Ada’s Place in Midtown, when he and his friend Eddie came to visit. What started as an ordinary night quickly became a memorable one, because as the evening went on, Vincent and I discovered a shared love that would become one of the things I’ll always associate with him: sneakers.
Years later, when I had the opportunity to manage Atmos, one of New York City’s most iconic sneaker boutiques, I always made sure that if there was a highly anticipated or hard-to-find release, I would do everything I could to secure a pair for Vincent. It became our own little tradition.
I’m going to deeply miss our conversations about upcoming releases, the excitement of chasing down a new pair, and especially the ridiculous lengths we would go through in the hunt for the ones we really wanted. But more than the sneakers, I’ll miss the conversations, the laughter, and the friendship that grew from that meeting on a summer night in New York.
Vincent was someone who left an impression on the people fortunate enough to know him. I feel incredibly grateful that our paths crossed and that I got to share some great memories with him.
My deepest condolences and love go out to the entire Romero family, Nadia, Lorenzo, and Edilea, during this incredibly difficult time.
Vincent, you will be deeply missed, but you will never be forgotten. I’ll always think of you when the next great sneaker release comes around—and I’ll always remember the hunts, the conversations, and the friendship.
Rest peacefully, my friend. Until we meet again.
